Lily Stovall

I’m a 17-year-old nonbinary artist. I go by Lilith or Lily Stovall. I am a Leo and am incredibly fascinated with everything surrounding paganism. I love appreciating my natural surroundings. The universe offers infinite knowledge and a broader perspective, so I draw that. I want to broaden others’ views with my work, but I’ve also broadened my own. I have learned much since initially choosing “The Human, Universe Connection” as my AP art (advanced placement) investigation in 2021.

My style is ever-changing; I like to showcase entities, sacred geometry, ancient religions, etheric bodies and chakras, crystals, mixed media, sculptural, and 3D aspects. My medium is usually acrylic on canvas, but I also enjoy clay. My process is a mess, but I always add unique embellishments: excessive amounts of glitter, faux plants, fun stickers, comic strips, figurines, and anything I can use to make it captivating and insightful.

I am graduating from Lopez Island High school this year. I plan on attending Evergreen State College to major in art. I’ve always been interested in expressing myself creatively. I took art classes in Seattle starting at four-years-old. After moving to Lopez, my options shrunk. Fortunately, the art program at Lopez Island School has helped me significantly. I’ve been with the same art teacher since then. She even taught me through AP last year. This year, I’m her teacher assistant for all Elementary art classes. The only exception to this loyalty was when my family moved, and I attended Waldorf School. I went on a hike and sang in Hawaiian every morning. We did art every day. The “main lesson” included; history, math, cursive writing with fountain pens, and a drawing. The drawing skills and the daily opportunity to have this time boosted my art abilities. However, everything can offer expertise or a lesson, whether in a literal class or not.
